At Honest Yoga, we are dedicated to helping each and every student along his or her path. All of our teachers have studied the principles of yoga extensively and are registered with Yoga Alliance. Each teacher has been trained in anatomy, physiology, yoga philosophy, and our own Honest Yoga method. Each teacher maintains a committed daily yoga practice; we believe that we cannot give what we do not have.
Our students come in all shapes, sizes, colors, ages, religious backgrounds and abilities. We share a passion and respect for the practice of yoga. We view Honest Yoga Center as sacred space focused on personal and social transformation. We respect all beings and realize the truth of interdependence. We realize that abiding in a conscious community elevates not only our own life, but the world at large.
Our Teacher Training Mission
This program was created out of the necessity for well rounded, compassionate yoga teachers. It is a great honor to deliver this program to you. The standards for teachers must be made higher.
Our name represents becoming true to oneself, seeing one’s own nature and accepting it, understanding one’s intrinsic goodness, and realizing there are many layers of the self. We, as yogis/yoginis, are to put an honest mirror up to ourselves to see what obstacles are holding us back from our own true greatness and what obstacles are holding us back from our unhealthy addictive patterns. Become honest with yourself and allow your truth to emerge.
Our mission is to provide a container for practitioners to develop themselves in a safe, effective, and joyful way, improve the clarity of body & mind, align your body strategically to cleanse & detoxify, decrease stress and improve everyday life with daily practice and help beings to enjoy each moment fully without regret. Our teachers are knowledgeable, practiced, and compassionate.
Asana (posture) practice linking movement to breath and linking postures with a flowing sequence and sun salutations. Each class is an unique combination of poses and themes. The postures stretch and strengthen your body. The themes open your mind and heart. Teachers teach off the mat using verbal cues and hands on assists. This style of teaching helps you move towards perfected alignment and deeper postures.
An Honest signature flow spiced up with intense core asana. All around great practice for your mind & body that will igniting your center from the big toes up! This practice will enhance your regular yoga routine by strengthening and toning your entire torso allowing your practice to advance to more challenging asana and awareness. You will work your rectus abdominis (the six-pack) and transversus abdominis (the girdle that wraps from sides to front of the torso).
Mindful movements that promote healing. Open to all levels and focused on therapeutic movement principles that will help identify imbalances while strengthening the mind and body. A full body sequence of postures for beginners to advanced practitioners. Postures promote strength and flexibility while fostering deeper levels of concentration. Recommended for students who want to strengthen and balance their mind and body while developing a strong foundation in alignment principles.
All practices ( except kids & prenatal ) are heated to 90 degrees with 40-50% humidity.
Why is sweating beneficial?
After experimenting with different levels of heat and moisture, we have found that the increased moisture in the air is more likely to make you sweat, rather than the absolute temperature! And the more people in the room, the more moisture from our breath, the more we sweat.
Experts agree that the optimal humidity when considering lung function for protection against colds, flu and other respiratory problems is around 60-70% .

Our room is thermostatically controlled so the temperature stays a perfect 85 degrees and we use a steam vaporizer to ensure correct humidity.
The heat means we can get into postures more deeply and effectively – plus the benefits of the postures come quickly. Like thousands before you, you will find that practicing yoga in the warm room creates a satisfying and blissful feeling of achievement.

Just as when your body raises its temperature to fight infection, the 85 degree temperature in the room will assist in improving T-cell function and the proper functioning of your immune system.
Your nervous system function is greatly improved and messages are carried more efficiently to and from your brain.
Metabolism improves in your digestive system and in the body’s cells (how food delivers nutrients to the cells).
